Meet the Band

Rooted in alternative rock, soreloser blends tight strong grooves, hook-driven melodies, and textured guitars with emotionally sharp songwriting. The project explores modern struggles of youth such as femininity, identity, and uncertainty through reflection rather than commentary. Its ironic name is intentional, contrasting playful connotations with emotionally weighty themes, creating space for vulnerability and accessibility to confront difficult topics. Dynamic songs build to create intimate verses to cathartic choruses, marking soreloser as a deliberate, authentic-driven reset on the modern band.

Sam Casey (Lead Vocals)

Quintessentially Canadian, Sam grew up on Tragically Hip Sundays with hockey practice in the backseat, Gord Downie howling through the speakers, authenticity seeping in before she even knew what to call it. That same refusal to be boxed in bleeds straight into her musical influence: Springsteen collides with Louis Prima, Alanis Morissette crashes into Supertramp, no genre said from raid. She runs to The Lord of the Rings soundtrack and drives like Charli XCX is chasing her. On stage, that same restless energy takes over, the same frenetic, captivating pull she traces back to Gord Downie and Elvis Presley, performers who didn’t just play a show, they detonated one.

Max Kaiser (Guitar, Keys, Synth & Producer)

He first learned guitar after hearing Rush when he was 10 years old and hasn’t been able to get music out of his brain ever since. He also taught himself to produce and has been involved as a co-producer on all soreloser recordings to date. Apart from his primary responsibilities playing guitar, producing and songwriting in the band, he also love making cooking, cocktails, fishing, and learning new instruments. Future instrument to conquer - the accordion.

Jake Biggs (Drums, Percussion & Vocals)

At age 12, Jake discovered he had a passion for hitting things with other things. A few years later he started jamming classic rock tunes with Max, and a few living room shows and school pep rally’s later the origins of soreloser were born. Although he branched out into orchestral percussion, drumline, and musical theatre, his heart still lies with rock n roll drumming. Also he’s currently endorsed by Mapex Canada. Killer drums (I promise they aren’t paying me to say that)!

Yanni Tzatzanis (Bass, Backing Vocals, Keys)

Some call the bass a broken guitar, Yanni calls it home. Always a rhythm-forward player, Yanni grew up studying the bass across a range of genres including funk, punk, and hip-hop, in order to better understand how to serve the sound. After a six year stint playing guitar in the Toronto scene, Yanni returns to his natural habitat ready to drive the low end.
